Terms of Use

The short version: FastFlags is here to help you learn about flags. Everything on it is for general information and reference, and we do our best to get it right. Here's the longer version.

About specifications and dates

Our proportions, adoption dates and color values come from public statutes, government style guides and published vexillological sources. Each page cites the sources it used. When governments specify colors in one system (such as Pantone, cloth samples or cable numbers) and we show approximate sRGB or hex values for the screen, those screen values are conversions for display rather than official manufacturing standards.

About meanings and history

We research flag histories and symbolism from primary laws, decrees and published references and cite them on each page. When sources disagree, or a popular story about a flag's colors was added long after the flag was adopted, we'll tell you.

About flag images and legal rules

Most national and state flag designs are in the public domain. However, some jurisdictions restrict commercial or official uses of certain emblems, coats of arms or state ensigns even when the drawing itself is free of copyright. Showing a flag here does not grant permission under local flag protocol or insignia laws.

Some guides cover flag codes, display etiquette or regulations. They summarize public sources and show when we last checked them, but they aren't legal advice. For official protocol or compliance, check the current statute or authority for your jurisdiction.

We work hard to keep everything accurate, but we can't promise there are no mistakes. If you find one, please let us know.
