Common "What flag is this?" identification guides
Blue, yellow, and red vertical stripes
Both Romania and Chad use three equal vertical stripes of blue, yellow, and red in a 2:3 ratio. See Romania vs. Chad for the cobalt vs. indigo shade difference.
Red over white vs. white over red horizontal stripes
Red on top of white is either Indonesia (2:3 ratio) or Monaco (4:5 ratio). White on top of crimson red is Poland (5:8 ratio). See Monaco vs. Indonesia.
Green, white, and orange vertical stripes
If green is at the flagpole, it is Ireland (1:2 ratio). If orange is at the flagpole, it is Côte d'Ivoire (2:3 ratio). See Ireland vs. Côte d'Ivoire.
Solid field with a single circle or disc
A red circle on white is Japan; a red circle on dark green is Bangladesh; a golden-yellow circle on sky blue is Palau.
