Flags combining green, yellow, and red (drawn from the 1897 Ethiopian imperial tricolor) or red, black, and green to signify African sovereignty and solidarity.

In 1959 Chad blended the vertical layout and blue hoist of France with the yellow and red of the Pan-African palette.
